A token board for a child who is not reading yet. Most behavior systems are made of sentences. A chart with six words on it is useless to a four year old, to a child who is not reading yet, and to a child who stops reading the moment they are upset. This pack is the same system built out of pictures instead. Token boards in five, ten and twenty spaces, each with a large box for the thing being worked for and a line for what actually earns a token. First and then boards. Twenty-four picture reward coupons sorted the way a teacher sorts them: classroom, movement and sensory, and home. A reward menu the child points at, because what a child will work for is rarely what an adult would have picked. Two pages are written for the adult: which board to start with and the one mistake almost everybody makes, then how to fade a board on purpose and the four things to check in order when a board stops working. A token board is scaffolding. If it is still on the desk in June exactly as it was in September, it has not worked, it has been tolerated.
